Inviting Team Members

You can invite any person to your team by email. Invitees do not need an existing account — they will be prompted to register when they accept.

Sending an Invitation

  1. In the sidebar, click Members.
  2. Click Invite Member, enter the person's email address.
  3. Select their role: Member or Admin.
  4. Click Send Invitation.

An invitation email is sent immediately. The invitation appears in the Pending Invitations list until accepted or cancelled.

Roles

DevShip has four roles. The Roles & Permissions feature must be enabled on your plan to assign Manager, Developer, and Organization Contact roles — otherwise all invited members default to Admin.

Role Permissions
Administrator Full access — team settings, billing, membership management, organizations, projects, issues, time entries, hour allotments, and the client portal.
Manager Can invite team members; create, update, and delete projects and manage their tags; create, update, and delete issues; manage time entries. Cannot access billing, team settings, or organization management.
Developer Can create, update, and delete issues on assigned projects; log and manage time entries. Cannot manage projects, invite members, or access settings.
Organization Contact Read-only access to the client portal (shared reporting, hours, and issue views). No access to any internal team data, settings, or projects.

Accepting an Invitation

The invitee receives an email with an acceptance link. Clicking it will:

  1. Log them in (or prompt them to register if they don't have an account).
  2. Add them to the team with the assigned role.
  3. Redirect them to the team dashboard.

Cancelling a Pending Invitation

While an invitation is pending, you can cancel it from Team Settings → Team Members → Pending Invitations. Click Cancel next to the relevant invitation. The link in the invitee's email will no longer work.

Removing a Team Member

To remove someone from the team:

  1. In the sidebar, under Manage, click Members.
  2. Locate the member in the list.
  3. Click the Three-dot button next to their name and select Archive User.

Removed members immediately lose access to all team resources. Their issues and comments remain intact and are not deleted.
