Teams

A team is the top-level workspace in DevShip. All data — organizations, projects, issues, members, billing, API tokens, and webhooks — is owned by a team.

Team Ownership

Every team has exactly one owner. The owner has full access to all team resources and is the only person who can:

  • Delete the team
  • Manage billing

Member Roles

Team members are assigned one of four roles:

RoleDescriptionKey permissions
Administrator Full access to the team, organizations, billing pool, and membership management. All permissions
Manager Manages projects and work for the team and may invite users. Invite members; create, update, and delete projects and issues; manage tags and time entries
Developer Logs time and works issues on assigned projects. Create, update, and delete issues; manage time entries
Organization contact Organization portal access for shared reporting and requests. Client portal only

Billing & Plans

Billing is managed at the team level via Stripe. Plans are attached to a team and gate specific features. The current tier governs access to:

  • Time logging on issues
  • In-app commenting on issues
  • Triage views per organization
  • The client reporting portal
  • Organization-level reporting dashboards
  • Granular roles and permissions

API Tokens

API tokens are scoped to a team. A token from one team cannot access another team's data. Tokens are managed in Team Settings → API Tokens. See API Tokens.

Webhooks

Outbound webhooks are also scoped to a team. They fire on issue lifecycle events across all projects in the team. See Setting Up Webhooks.

Client Reporting

Teams can enable a client reporting portal which gives external clients read-only access to hours, issues, and reporting dashboards for their organization. This is enabled from Team Settings and requires a supported plan.

Multiple Teams

A single user account can belong to multiple teams. Use the team switcher in the sidebar to move between workspaces. Each team has completely separate data, billing, and members.
